How to create and manage Action Items

Create custom Action Items and use filters to stay organized.

TL;DR: Create custom Action Items from the Action Items tab, filter by assignee or status, and complete them as you work through your tasks.

Overview

Beyond the automatic Action Items that Village creates, you can create custom Action Items to track anything important in your practice.

How to create a custom Action Item

  1. Go to the Action Items tab (on web) or find it under More (on mobile).

  2. Click Create Action Item or the + button.

  3. Enter the task details.

  4. Assign it to yourself or a team member.

  5. Set a due date if needed.

  6. Save the Action Item.

Filtering Action Items

The Action Items tab includes powerful filtering options:

  • Filter by assignee to see specific team members' tasks

  • Filter by status (open, completed, overdue)

  • Filter by patient to see tasks related to a specific case

  • Filter by due date to prioritize urgent items

Completing Action Items

  1. Click on the Action Item to open it.

  2. Complete the required task.

  3. Mark the Action Item as complete.

Using Vera for Action Items

You can also ask Vera to help manage your Action Items:

  • "Vera, what Action Items do I have due today?"

  • "Vera, create an Action Item to follow up with the Rivera family next week"

  • "Vera, show me all open Action Items for my team"

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit an Action Item after creating it?
Yes. Click on any Action Item to edit the details, reassign it, or change the due date.

Can I delete an Action Item?
Yes. Open the Action Item and select delete if you no longer need it.

Do Action Items carry over if not completed?
Yes. Overdue Action Items remain visible until they're completed or deleted.
