Overview

Village gives provider organizations control over the appointment notifications their clients receive. When you're setting up your organization, you decide which notifications are turned on, what they say (where applicable), and when they're sent. This lets you tailor the client experience to match how your practice communicates.

What you can customize

  • Push notifications — toggle on or off for appointment reminders sent through the Village app.

  • SMS notifications — toggle on or off, and edit the message template (what's included in the text your clients receive).

  • Timing — choose when each notification goes out (for example, how many hours before an appointment).

How to update appointment notifications

  1. Go to Settings from your organization dashboard.

  2. Open the Notifications section.

  3. Find Appointment notifications.

  4. Toggle push and SMS notifications on or off as needed.

  5. For SMS, edit the message template to match your practice's voice.

  6. Set the timing for when each notification should go out.

  7. Save your changes.

Who this applies to

These settings live at the organization level and are managed by admins. Once they're set, they apply to every client in your practice. Individual providers don't need to configure notifications on their own — they're handled centrally.

FAQ

Will my clients still get reminders if I turn SMS off?
Only if push notifications are on and they have the Village app installed. If you turn both off, no reminders will be sent.

Can I customize the content of push notifications?
Not today — push notification text is standardized. SMS notifications are the place to add your practice's voice.

Can different appointment types have different notification rules?
Currently, notification settings apply across all appointments for your organization. If you'd like more granular control, let us know — we track this kind of feedback for the roadmap.

What if I need to change a notification for one specific client?
Notification settings are organization-wide. For one-off communication, message the client directly through Village.
